RECIPES: old fashioned shot and peanut chocolate

old fashioned shot

Serves 3

100g sugar

200ml water 

juice of 2 oranges

60ml Scotch whisky

Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan and bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 mins, then allow to cool. Chill the sugar water. In a jug or cocktail maker, mix together the sugar water, orange juice and whiskey. Add ice, then strain the mixture into sherry glasses and serve.

peanut butter chocolate

Makes 6

50g dark cooking chocolate, broken into pieces 

30g salted roasted peanuts

baking paper

Place the chocolate into a microwaveable bowl and microwave for 1 min and 30 seconds, or until it can be stirred smooth. Mix in 3/4 of the peanuts. Line a baking tray with baking paper, then pour the mixture over and spread out thinly. Scatter with the remaining peanuts and allow to set for 1 hour, then chill for 1 hour. Break the chocolate into pieces and serve with the old fashioned shot.
